What exactly is a Graphic Designer in the fundraising world? It’s a position that allows you to create and execute the creative for direct mail, digital and legacy giving campaigns for Canadian charities. Simply put, it’s a fundraising consulting gig.

The Job

Good Works is seeking a part-time Graphic Designer to join our team and work closely with a team of consultants to shape and deliver turn-key and custom direct response solutions. Key responsibilities include:

Graphic Design

  • Design clear engaging graphic communications for print and digital marketing
  • Design work primarily consists of direct mail pieces (think outer envelopes, letters, reply coupons, inserts), website and social media graphics, brochures, impact reports, and other marketing materials as needed
  • Work closely with Account Teams to design the look/artwork for each appeal based upon the brief and artwork specifications for direct mail, legacy and digital campaigns
  • Ensure that design files are maintained with version control and adhere to internally accepted standards

Project Management

  • Prepare design estimates/quotes for Account Teams
  • Prepare internal design invoicing
  • Provide Account Teams with design invoice summaries
  • Consult regularly with Account Teams about specific campaigns and related design work
  • Track actions and deliverables as required to ensure a timely delivery of services to clients

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or other common design and layout applications
  • Video editing skills but would be considered an asset
  • Experience in direct response design for charities, specifically direct mail, digital and/or legacy
  • Must be extremely organized, able to define and work to deadlines
  • Highly adaptable, flexible and able to prioritize as part of a small but nimble team
  • Able to successfully juggle multiple, competing deadlines in a fast‐paced, changing environment
  • Proactive (confident in asking questions, generating ideas, and being a self-starter) on projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well with a wide range of people

Salary Range: $45,000 – $65,000 annually (prorated for up to 22 hours/week, part-time permanent)
