I think falling into fundraising was a natural progression for me. That is a bit of a play on words because my connection to nature has informed many of my decisions in life.
I grew up in the countryside, surrounded by nature and with a fond appreciation of the many interconnections in ecosystems. This is the lens through which I view the world. It also led me to be a huge Geography nerd, thinking about how we impact the natural world and how it impacts us. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of stories to shape and frame our perspectives. Exploring the human/nature duality and how we choose to show up every day, in our homes, in our communities, in our cities…
I spent a few years on the environmental programming side: facilitating outdoor education, teaching youth about medicinal plants, and tromping through the woods as my day job. Shoestring budgets were my bread and butter. It was only a matter of time before I took the reigns and became a fundraiser myself. It is a conscious choice to be living my values and trying to make the world a better place. I believe each of our actions can facilitate collective good. Although nature is my main squeeze, I’m looking forward to bringing my perspective to help solve some of the other complex challenges we face in the world.
In my free time, you’ll most likely find me outside! Running, hiking, cycling, playing tennis, gardening, or working on some plant ID.
